James Wood Middle School Now Equipped With Buzz-in Entry System
08/23/2018
Over the summer, buzz-in entry systems were installed at all schools that weren't previously equipped with the system, including James Wood High School. Individuals visiting all Frederick County Public Schools now have to use the system and state their name and the purpose of their visit before being granted access to a school.

Shelly Andrews Named Assistant Principal at James Wood High School

Shelly Andrews has been named the new assistant principal at James Wood High School effective July 1. Mrs. Andrews, who is currently an assistant principal at James Wood Middle School, succeeds Monty Loving who is retiring following a 38-year career with Frederick County Public Schools.

School Security Update
School Board Votes to Request Funds for Safety and Security Upgrades

The School Board voted November 7 to request a supplemental appropriation of approximately $1.3 million from the Frederick County Board of Supervisors for the Phase II Safety and Security Construction Upgrades to seven schools as well as the FCPS Administration Building.

The overall mean score of Frederick County Public Schools’ 2018 graduates who took the SAT exceeded the national mean score of public high school seniors. Frederick County’s mean score of 1099 exceeded the all-schools national mean score by 50 points.

FCPS Receives School Equipment Security Grant

Frederick County Public Schools is one of 102 Virginia school divisions receiving School Security Equipment Grants this year. The $18,781 state grant will be used to provide additional security cameras at nine different schools.
